Queen Meridah smiled softly at Annalyn, her bare lips gleaming beneath the colorful, luminescent crystals that decorated the walls of the large room they were in, fairly illuminating it. Her diamond-blue eyes sparkled with mischief as she locked gazes with Annalyn, both glaring so piercingly that it seemed they were about to go at each other’s throats like wild animals.
“You can’t beat me; I was already ten steps ahead when we began, and I’m about to deliver a finishing blow so harrowing, you will never want to try this with me ever again,” Meridah said, barely moving her lips. Her voice was silent, laced with malice, and just loud enough for Annalyn to hear the mockery in it.
Annalyn tightened her lips and squinted. “Then finish it once and for all. I knew what fate awaited me from the very beginning, so I am not afraid to face it,” she replied, clenching her teeth and holding back tears that were about to roll out of her eyes. She refused to take her eyes off Meridah
