Chapter 187. Voices
“Made enemies of the elves, have we?” Rhys’s voice sounded smoky, unalive. It echoed in the cold, dark prison cell I sat in, loud enough for whoever was in there with me to hear. For some reason, though, I couldn’t tell if I was dreaming or awake anymore.
“Get out of my head!” I whimpered, tears gathering in my eyes.
“You enjoyed killing those elves, didn’t you?” Mabel accused.
“A show of your rebellion against her authority,” Rhys added.
“No! Leave me be,” I growled, burying my fist in the wall to my right.
“You will kill a lot more than just elves, Celene, and you’ll enjoy every drop of blood you spill, but bloodshed won’t free you of her strings,” Rhys said.
“I will not follow her plans like some pawn! My decisions are my own, and I will walk the path my heart chooses, whether she likes it or not!” I argued.
“Your heart? You still think you have one of those?” Mabel said, letting out a chuckle.
