Chapter 52. His Smile
“No… no!” Meridah let out as quietly as she could, her eyes widening and her heart racing as she stared at a letter written on an off-white piece of paper. She threw the paper onto her table and picked up another. As she read through the words written on it, she placed her left palm over her mouth as her eyes sparkled with tears.
Annalyn, who had sensed that her queen was distressed, opened her eyes and gently pushed her right index finger against the core of a flower sitting on a table to the right side of her bed. The large pink flower with a convex center let out a soft pink glow after being pushed slightly, the intensity of its glow slowly increasing.
