Keira frowned, saying, “What? Why? I don’t think you’ve ever lacked anything. What makes you so indebted?” she asked, not believing what she was hearing. Her parents stayed silent, making Keira even angrier.
“Are you guys going to be like this? Alright, how much do you owe the Peytons?” she impatiently asked. Her parents looked at each other, panic setting in. Suddenly, Keira’s mother burst into tears.
Your father got scammed. We desperately needed the money to cover the bank, and we couldn’t help but borrow money from them,” her mother explained, occasionally wiping her tears with her hand.
“What? Scammed? Are you involved in some business or something? How could you be deceived? Aunt May said you’re still working in your office,” Keira rambled. She was no longer sitting; she stood staring at her parents in bewilderment. Her father didn’t say anything, knowing she would get even angrier; her mother took over.
