Chapter 5. New Tail

Keira suddenly felt her heart beat faster when she felt Ben’s breath on her face. She looked away and cleared her throat nervously. “I wasn’t bitching around. Greeting an old friend is not flirting! You’re overreacting!” she said without looking into Ben’s sharp eyes.

Ben snorted in disbelief. “I’ve lived long enough to see those sparks in your eyes. What was that spark? Is he your ex?”

“That’s none of your business!” she snapped curtly.

“It will be my business from now on unless you want to return all the money that I used to pay off your debt,” replied Ben as he drove the car.

Keira let out a long sigh. She couldn’t believe she had just let someone colonize her life.

“I swear to God he’s not my ex! He was just my first crush back when I was in high school, and it was just a one-sided feeling, so stop interrogating me about that!” she raved while throwing her gaze out the window, embarrassed by her pathetic first love story.
