“You’re twenty-eight years old, and you’ve never told a story about your boyfriend, which worries them so much. You know them, don’t you? They’re so conservative they think you have deviant sexual tendencies,” Aunt Rossie said cautiously.

Keira was getting more and more annoyed. “Deviant sexual tendencies? Oh my! Isn’t that a bit too much?!”

“Did he lose his job? I mean, Keira’s Dad?” asked Ben suddenly. Keira looked at Aunt Rossie sharply.

“Aunt Rossie? I swear I’ll never talk to you in my life if you lie!” she threatened angrily.

Aunt Rossie gulped. She looked at Keira and Ben in turn. “Well, as far as I know, he’s still working in his office. There’s no problem...” she said hesitantly.

“So what he said about pawning the certificate was a lie? He just wanted to lure me home, didn’t he?” rambled Keira, who was starting to understand what was happening.
