Chapter 22. Approved or Not

Unexpectedly, Julian and Mia nodded in unison, even though they seemed doubtful. Witnessing that unspoken answer, the old man gave a faint snort.

"In that case, are you two willing to be paired for life?"

Getting such an ambiguous question, Mia immediately fell silent. Meanwhile, Julian instead answered loudly. "Yes."

The CEO's exclamation instantly froze the atmosphere. Herbert's gaze had turned to him, in a mysterious way and full of suspicion. However, instead of asking, the old man shifted his gaze towards the secretary a second later.

"Why don't you answer? Do you mind?” Herbert inquired in a slightly different tone. Seriousness had slipped into his speech.

After a moment of silence, Mia forced a smile. "No, Sir. Earning the trust of the Evans family is an honor for a girl like me.”

Receiving such a response, Herbert immediately chuckled. “You really are reliable, Mia. Now, go back to your desk. Sorry for taking up your time.”
