Chapter 123. Confrontations

After a minute, when Nikolas’s mouth released hers, Brooklyn’s face flushed with embarrassment, realizing what she had done. She eagerly looked around but didn’t see the woman for whom she had taken so much pain. Nikolas looked at her with amusement in his eyes.

“I didn’t know that you missed me so much,” he said, his lips still tingling from the kiss.

Brooklyn was acutely aware of his gaze upon her and she felt all the more shy, unable to look him in the eyes.

“Umm, I just came to ask you for the password to my laptop. Did you set it?” asked Brooklyn, at last finding her voice.

Nikolas nodded and went to sit at his desk.

“Yes, you didn’t tell me you didn’t resign from your previous office,” said Nikolas.

“You too haven’t told me many things, Nikolas. It’s fair enough, don’t you think so?” asked Brooklyn, determined to ask him about Hailey now. But where was she? Brooklyn wanted to confront her, but she seemed to be hiding somewhere!
