Chapter 34. An Addictive First Kiss

She wheeled her luggage towards the main door to leave when suddenly it opened and Matteo stood there with a haggard look on his face.

“Where are you going, Emilia?” he asked hoarsely. Amelia felt close to tears after seeing him unexpectedly in front of her after a week.

“Home. Goodbye, Matteo.” She didn’t stop, pulling her luggage past him while he stood like a statue. She had to get away before she broke down in front of him. However, he came to his senses and grabbed her wrist to stop her.

“Goodbye? Were you planning to leave without even informing me?”

Amelia wrenched her hand free of his hold and scoffed at him. “You avoided me for a week as if I’m some unwanted house guest living with you forcefully. How could I have informed you?” Matteo stood blocking the door with a brooding expression on his face.

“I was busy.” He avoided her gaze as if wanting to hide the tumultuous emotions flitting across his face.

“I understand. I’ve completed the wo
