Chapter 65. Escaped

A gun shot echoed in the air and Matteo froze, a bullet piercing into his shoulder blade. Excruciating pain made his entire body go numb while blood oozed from his wound yet he kept climbing, eager to escape.

“Uccidilo! Non dovrebbe scappare!” (Kill him! He shouldn’t get away!) yelled Luigi while his men rushed towards him. Another gun shot rang through the air and this time hit his arm. Matteo’s head reeled from the attack and he lost his grip and fell down to the ground with a thud.

The men came over and kicked him more while he howled with pain.

“Nessuno può sfuggire al capo, figlio di puttana.” (No one can escape the boss. Abusive language.) Luigi laughed and kicked him until Matteo was blood-soaked and all the fight left his body. His eyes closed shut, and he lay still, not moving at all.
