Chapter 39. Her Confession
Nikolas entered the room, lay her down on the queen sized bed, checking her for injuries. He knew Brooklyn wasn’t in the right frame of mind to stay in a room all by herself, so he would have to stay with her. The thought made his heart want to jump with joy. She opened her eyes and looked dazed and unfocused.
Nikolas ordered some hot soup for her and a chicken wrap for himself. She needed to regain her strength. He doubted she ate anything at all since afternoon.
“Don’t sleep, Brooklyn. I have to clean you a little,” he said, gently, but she didn’t respond. He picked her up and took her to the washroom.
“I can manage,” she mumbled incoherently.
Nikolas walked out and closed the door after him. There was a brief knock on his door and a staff member brought him the food that he had ordered. Afterwards, he helped Brooklyn to the bed. She ate some soup and lay down on the bed, closing her eyes.
