Chapter 71. Can't Stay Away

Nikolas shook his head and got up. Seeing him leave the bed, Brooklyn felt hurt. She wanted him to touch her!

“Then why did you kiss me, Nikolas? You started it,” she accused, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. Nikolas looked very guilty.

“I’m sorry that I started it. I..,” he said, but then, without completing his sentence, turned abruptly and walked out of his room, leaving her sitting on the bed. She heard him pick up his car keys and walk out of the apartment. Maybe he went to have dinner with his foster cousin after all!

Feeling heartbroken and lonely, a dazed Brooklyn walked towards her room to freshen up. Nikolas’s behavior had hurt her immensely. If he really wasn’t serious about her, why did he kiss her in the first place? It wasn’t fair to sleep with her, raise her hopes, make her fall hopelessly in love with him, and then just pull the rug from under her feet.

She freshened up, changed and absent-mindedly went to the kitchen to make some dinner
