Chapter 11
Deiseree’s POV
“Deiseree, were you going to your next job?” Auntie Lorna asked when everything was done in the diner.
I nodded while fixing my clothes and tying my hair. “Yes, Auntie Lorna. I had to go early since the warehouse I was going to clean was a bit far from here,” I answered.
“In that case, you should have gotten on a jeep or tricycle so you didn’t have to walk anymore,” she suggested. I shook my head.
“It’s okay. It was a waste of a jeep fare too.”
“Goodness! Oh, this kid. I’ll pay if you’re worried about the fare. I can’t be at ease knowing you have to walk at this hour,” she shook her head.
I looked outside. It was already quite dark because it was five o’clock in the afternoon. There had been too many customers earlier, so Auntie Lorna’s restaurant was also forced to work overtime—and so was I. I didn’t feel too tired though.
