I didn't take Damien's advice on what to do about Alpha Ryker and the council. Everyone seems to have his own plan and they all know I won't just say 'yes' and do as they say. I have a little thing for orders, and if they didn't need me, I'm sure they would have gotten rid of me by now.

To them, I'm waiting for their orders because the life of my mate is on the line. It is really funny that they think I'll think of my vows when they touch her. I may not have made any vows to her or even solidified our relationship, but she didn't need me to say the words.

When you find your mate, you know all these things and they are locked in place. She doesn't need to ask me for that, and now that I have gotten my head out of my ass—Dylan made sure to tell me—I can see the amazing person she is, and I don't want to lose her. And I damn well won't let anyone tell me what to do about her or with her.

The council has no right to test my loyalty to them. I decide if
