Hazel's POV

We had started out that afternoon. The Alpha and I were well on our way to the Phantom Pack. He’d called for the services of some of his guards; I hadn’t known how he’d done that. There were about four of his men following us.

"Any problem?"

"No, Alpha."

"You’ve been quiet."

I said nothing to that. Then I heard him chuckle; it was low. So low, I’d almost thought I had imagined it, but there it was when I looked up at his face for confirmation, only to be proved right. I frowned.

"What’s funny, Alpha?"

"You, Hazel."

"Me?"

"Your expression is hilarious."

"The Alpha thinks you’re hilarious, Hazel."

"Don’t start, Lia."

"Hey, I’m not doing anything or saying anything bad."

"You can’t be trusted not to."
