Alpha Arthur’s POV

I didn’t know what had come over Dizane. She’s never been this nasty and petty. She doesn’t even know Hazel, and she’s acting like the girl has offended her in the past. I knew the girl hadn’t been treated well in the past; I had also been part of her suffering, and to be honest, for some reason, when I think back on it, she hadn’t deserved any of that. I don’t understand this sudden compassion for her and the growing need to make her as comfortable as she possibly can be.

“Lucky you,” Caden said, expressing grouchiness.

“Lucky me, how?”

“You are liking her.”

“I am not liking her. Just being nice, and also, I do not want to have to do anything that would make her escape again.”

“Are you sure that’s the only thing you’re concerned with?”

“Why should there be anything else?”

“You keep lying to yourself, Arthur.”

“But why did you say lucky me? Are you unlucky?”

“She’s a human. She doesn’t ha
