Hazel's POV
“Grether?”
The servant girl paused at the door and turned to me. I was still standing close to the door.
“Sorry for how I treated you the first time. I was being cautious, but it was no excuse to outright put you on the spot like you’d done me wrong. But I hope you’ll understand why I did it and forgive me.”
She smiled. More of a beam, actually. Had she been waiting for me to apologise?
“No problem, miss. Thank you for the apology. And I understand.”
“Okay. And thank you for the meal. Both meals.”
“You’re welcome, miss.”
She left, and I closed the door.
“That was a nice apology. You did right, Hazel.”
“Thank you, Lia.”

“Uh yes. I kind of accused her of trying to poison me. Not directly, but you know what I mean.”
