Hazel's POV

"What was that?" Alpha Lokris inquired.

I felt his scrutinizing gaze on me, but I no longer cared. He could whip me for all I cared. My face scrunched in pain over the thought of losing Lia. She wasn’t going to die, but she was surely going to be lost forever, whatever that meant.

"Lia?"

The link was lost.

No response. My heart pounded heavily against my chest. Did it happen already? Was she lost forever?

"I said, what was that?" Lokris asked again.

"Reply him, Hazel."
