Chapter 72

Hazel's POV

"What are you doing here?"

No reply. I couldn’t form any words right now. I was too scared, too. My brain was too muddled to actually give me something reasonable to say. If I opened my mouth, I was sure to let out gibberish. Closing my mouth was better.

"Answer me!"

I jolted, but I still couldn’t say anything.

"Raise your head and look at me this instant!" He roared again, and I whipped my head up to meet his eyes. They were angry and frustrated, and I didn’t know if it was my imagination, but I thought I also saw fear.

"Have you been here all along? Have you been hiding out here?"

Fear? Why would an alpha like himself be scared? It was definitely my brain interpreting and conveying the wrong things.

"Stop scaring the girl, Arthur." That was Mama Mia’s voice. I peeked around the alpha to see her coming inside the cottage. The Alpha’s presence was overwhelming; it took up the space in the living room.
