Chapter 31. New Friends 2

Selena, upon hearing Robby's words, fell silent. She then looked at the man sitting in front of her. "Is he really a good person?" Selena asked.

"Yes, he's been a tremendous help to me, Selena. I'm grateful," replied Robby.

Selena started crying again, leaving both men confused and alarmed by her loud sobbing.

"Selena, why are you crying? Did I do something wrong? It seems like my words made you cry; I must be stupid. I'm really sorry," Robby said.

"Robby, it must have hurt, right?" Selena said as she wiped her tears.

"What?" Robby asked.

"The beatings they gave you. Did you feel alone that night?" Selena inquired.

"It's okay, it's all in the past," Robby replied.

"They hit you multiple times, didn't they?" Selena asked again.

"Yes," Robby admitted.

Selena stood up and slapped Robby. This time, both Selena and Robby cried, embracing each other.

"I feel like I've caused you both to cry," the man said while looking at them.
