By the time I returned to the house, it was already some minutes past seven and as I walked past the dining room, I heard the sound of laughter and the clash of glass against glass.

I guess that was for the best as I was in no mood to see anyone right now.

I tiptoed on until I got to my room. On reaching there, I pushed open the door and immediately stepped in only for me to scream a moment later when Damien's voice boomed from a corner.

“Where the hell are you coming from?”

“Jesus Christ, Damien! You scared the shit out of me!” I muttered lowly and pressed a hand to my heaving chest. From the corner of my eye, I glimpsed him sitting on the bed with his arms folded across his chest.

His impassive gaze ran down my body and a muscle ticked in his jaw. “You still haven't answered my question, bunny.”

I stepped more fully into the room. “I went out for a walk,” I told him.
