Chapter 106. Crash, Crash, Crash

I had already been a bit anxious and worried about going out there alone to run, but after the guard had suggested that I go with a guard or two, it just made things worse. 

My heart thundered in my chest and even though I was trying my best not to show that to the man, I knew that he could see right through me. 

“I’m fine,” I managed to say, flashing him a forced smile even though fear was slowly eating me up. 

“Are you sure?” He took another step closer to me when he asked this. “I can go with you, it doesn’t have to be anyone else.” 

I tried to think it over but I did not want to feel like I had never left the compound. And being with a guard will have me feeling like that. I just wanted to escape it all for a few minutes or more. I wanted to be alone, risk or no risk. 

I was tired of being weak and allowing my fear to rule me. 

“I will be just fine, thank you though,” I replied, and started to walk off but he stopped me
