Chapter 191. He Tried

May slowly pull away from Amber, her face pale but set with resolve. She wiped her tears with trembling hands and stared at Alan, her voice low and sharp. “How long has this been going on, Alan? How long have you been lying to me, to our family?”

Alan opened his mouth to speak but no words came. His gaze darted between May and his daughter, panic etched on his features. I could tell by the look in his eyes that he felt like his life was over, and he was not ready to accept it.

I was so grateful that I was not the one to pull the trigger about all of this. I would not be able to live with myself if this was because of me. I would not be able to close my eyes at night if I knew that I was the one who ruined a wonderful family, even though it was not perfect.

“May, please, let’s not do this here. I’m begging you. Can we talk in private?” He sounded so defeated and lost. I really did feel bad for him, even though what he had been doing was messed up.
