Chapter 199. I Don't Like the Plan

Zach ran a hand through his hair, clearly frustrated. “Vanessa, you’re asking Rue to walk back into hell, and you’re telling me to sit here and let it happen? That’s not going to work for me.” 

And before she could defend herself or say something, he turned to me. “And you, Rue. What are you doing? You hate that place. You were willing to pretend to be a courtesan even though you were a virgin, just so you could escape.” 

I swallowed hard. He was right, but this was what the situation demanded. This was what needed to be done. I was tired of running. Running was not doing anything for me. Running was like taking all the dirty dishes and hiding them, that did not mean they were clean. 

So yeah, I needed to do this. 

“Zach, I know that you’re watching out for me and all that but I need to do this. I’m tired of running. Whether you like it or not, I’m doing it.” My voice was firm and I liked how it was.
