Chapter 256. The Second Thumb Drive

I felt a surge of hope course through me, like a breath of fresh air. Vanessa. Of course, she had to have made a copy. She was smart, she always thought outside the box, even though she used to treat me like crap. 

Knowing had my blood was pumping again; it made me feel alive. There was still a chance; a chance to turn all of this around. 

I leaned forward, my heart thumping in my chest again, but this time it was out of excitement, not fear. “Darco, do you still have it with you? The thumb drive you found.” 

He nodded slowly, his expression turning a bit serious even though I could tell that he was a bit confused. “Yeah, I’ve got the pouch in my pocket right now. I did not want to leave it anywhere until I knew how important it was. And I guess, from your reaction, it is.”
