Chapter 6. I Am Not a Kid

Kaylee walked back into the house after enjoying the morning breeze. She placed her drawing materials on the couch in the sitting room and walked up the stairs. She passed by her room and went directly towards her father's.

She heaved a huge sigh before knocking on the door.

"Come in," she heard her father say from inside, and she turned the doorknob.

Her dad was working on his laptop when she walked in. He looked over his shoulder and gave her a dry smile when he saw her. Kaylee sat on the bed and looked down at her fingers before speaking.

"I want to talk to you," she said softly, causing her father to turn his chair to face her with concern.

She looked up at his face, and he signaled for her to continue.

"I thought about it. You loved mother; there’s no way you would want me to forget all about her. I am very sorry for what I said to you. I shouldn’t have said all of that, and I regret it now. I’m sorry," she said as tears started to fill her e
