Her face twitched briefly, then she scoffed.
"Please don't tell me you are choosing to be a bodyguard over who you really are."

She stared at me, her expression suddenly blank. Then she laughed out loud, so loud it was embarrassing.
"You're joking."
She leaned forward, whispering now. "The Zayne I knew would eat you alive."
Her eyes narrowed.
"With time, the real you will claw its way out. You can't hide from it, Zayne."
