Chapter 51
Two men sat under the midnight sky in a black nondescript car outside the mansion watching the lights in the west wing go off.
“That must be where the children’s rooms are,” one of the men said to the other.
They waited several more minutes. Minutes bleed into hours before Steph, Jayden, Mason and Edna made their way to their rooms. The men waited a few minutes more before getting out of the car but not before opening the passenger door and dragging out a skinny teenager in a pair of faded blue jeans, a faded white shirt, a pair of worn-out sneakers, and a baseball cap.
The boy stumbled and jerked his collar out of the hand of the man and caught himself quickly before he hit the floor.
He glared at the men. “What’s the big idea?”
“Do your thing,” the man ordered gruffly.
The boy continued to glare but there was nothing he could do as he straightened his clothes and put his hands out.
