Chapter 114. It's Alarming

I woke up from a dream. I dreamt that Jake had woken up. But when I woke up and remembered he was still in a coma, I felt sad.
"I dreamt that Jake woke up, Dean," I commented. "It felt real."
Dean didn't say anything. I sensed something was off, and I was afraid to ask why. Dean looked uncomfortable. What if something happened, and he didn't want to tell me?
"Is Jake okay? Did something happen?" I asked.
Dean smiled and said that Jake was fine. He left the room to make a call. It was strange.
When Dean returned to the room, he told me he had spoken to the doctor, and they agreed to discharge me. Dean would take me home in a few hours. I didn't think the hospital process would be quick. I thought the doctors would argue with Dean to keep me from leaving, considering my critical health. I suppose I should have felt happy. But the fear of living with Carla surfaced.
