Chapter 36
Lucas’s POV
I chugged another throatful of wine from the wine bag, gazing idly at the moon as I felt the liquor walk its way around my bones and senses. Maybe it was a pre-death celebration for my brother, or probably it was my failing attempt at washing away the last bit of guilt for plotting my brother’s death.
The problem, however, was that I hardly ever got besotted, regardless of how much I drank. I still had to live with the reality one way or another. Being selfish was the luxury I could afford. Everything would pass by like it never happened. Maybe time will tell.
“Never took you for a hopeless romantic.”
“You are not supposed to be here,” I said to Lordan without tearing my face away from the blackness in the valley below.
“I am not. But I don’t know why I’m here.”
