Winter’s POV
“Thankfully, your baby is still alive,” the physician told me.
I couldn’t believe my ears were listening to the right thing. “What do you mean? I just…. I just, I just…”
“It wasn’t a miscarriage. Although it could have been, but luckily it wasn’t,” she clarified.
My back sank back into the pillow with relief; it was like a boulder was suddenly carried off my chest. And a faint smile was able to find its way to my face after hours.
“My baby isn’t gone,” I repeated with my tone nearly breaking to give in to more tears…of joy.
Eliza came to sit by the bedside and flashed me a happy smile.
“But what could have caused that?” I prompted the question.
“You had pregnancy poisoning, which shouldn’t have happened if you’d been taking the herbs I had given you,” the physician said, looking a bit disappointed.
