Chapter 44

An alpha. Her mate was an alpha. She felt happiness flood her soul. She did not have to think about the struggles of trying to get him accepted by her pack and elders if he were a normal wolf. She felt relieved. That was until she thought of that last part of his words.

“Did you say you’re the alpha of this pack?” she asked her mate, and he nodded his head in response. “You’re Alpha Xavier of the Eirini Pack?” she asked wide-eyed.

“Yes, that’s what I said,” he told her.

“Oh. Okay,” Selene said in growing worry. She felt another problem rising.

Her mate noticed that something was wrong. “What’s wrong?” Xavier asked her.

“Nothing. Nothing is wrong, Alpha,” Selene lied, but he saw through it.

“Xavier. Call me Xavier. I’m your mate. Now tell me what’s wrong,” he told her firmly.

Selene could not lie to him any longer. Lying to him left a sour taste in her mouth. “I’m Selene Williams, daughter to Alpha Bennet Williams,” she told him nervously.
