Chapter 19

Michael paced around the floor of his underground cave, almost wearing thin. He couldn’t stand the wait. He wanted to know if Aston and Romania had succeeded in getting Star. He growled, wondering why it was taking them so long to get her and notify him that they had. 

He had forbidden them from taking a car with them as he doubted they wouldn’t run if he let them have a car, and moreover, he knew they wouldn’t be able to get Star to him in the car without being seen by others as unconscious as she was either when they were getting her in the car or at checkpoints by cops. He knew they would be suspected and probably arrested, and the last thing he needed was to go around controlling a station of cops just to get some humans he could easily replace free because he didn’t want them to spill their guts about him.
