From the mansion’s large courtyard, Elena sighted Leo and Isla wandering in the grapevines. And though she couldn’t make out what they were saying because they were far from her, they looked like they were chatting heartily. It upset her. She didn’t know if she wanted to meet their pace and pull him aside or if she wanted to wait for him to be alone to talk some sense into him. She decided on the latter. But why? Why was he letting his guard down like this? Why was he letting himself get so close to Isla? Elena walked back into the house and changed into a simple outfit. Fabian was still taking a nap.

She went outside the house again and got into one of her luxury cars parked in the garage. She drove to her mother’s resting place within the estate. As soon as she reached it, she got out of the car and knelt by the all-white graveside. There were rose flowers on the graveside—her mother’s favorite.
