Chapter 22
Elena had never really liked Emma but had been happy to have seen Leo happy with her. She’d on several occasions caught them sneaking away to the vines to talk to each other. There were also times she would catch them tiptoeing to the rooms in the mansion hardly anyone went to—the rooms were reliquaries, and relics belonging to their dead grandfather were kept. But she’d kept quiet, had pretended not to see them, and had never told on them. Emma was really precious to Leo. Unfortunately, the ugly incident with Emma’s family shattered his heart and destroyed their relationship.
