"You have to go, Gerald," Isla pleaded and glanced behind her to see who was coming.

No one was in sight yet, but she could still hear the footsteps. With panic clawing at her insides, she stared back at Gerald. He didn't seem like he was leaving anytime soon. His eyes remained on her.

"Please, Gerald."

No one had ever come to look for her here. So, if the wrong person saw Gerald, it could jeopardize the revenge mission. Gerald knew her when she was still Emma. He knew things that could expose her and her mother's true identity. Her mother would never forgive her for it. Her mother still blamed her for Lionel and her father's deaths, though not expressly. But her cold attitude towards Isla always implied it.

"I tried to forget about you, Emma. I mean, Isla. But I couldn't. I can't seem to get you out of my head. My life feels empty without you. Please, give me a chance."
