Chapter 61
Standing by the floor-to-ceiling windows of his office, Lorenzo stared at the distant rolling hills. The sun cast a golden glow over the horizon. His hands were thrust into his pocket. He had a meeting in thirty minutes and needed to clear his head for it.
There was a knock on his office door. He wondered who it was. No one ever knocked on his office door without his secretary calling first. Except it was Rebecca. Or Leonardo or Fabian.
“Come in,” he said, turning to the door.
The door creaked open, ushering in a young man with shabby hair and moist eyes. It was one of hisex-employees. His secretary appeared in the doorway, looking frightened.
“I tried to stop him, Sir,” she voiced with her lips trembling.
Anger shot up Lorenzo's spine.
“As you couldn't stop him, clear out your desk. You're fired,” he said.
Tears rolled down her cheeks. She knew better than to beg him. If she did, he would ensure that no business in Napa hired
