Chapter 6. Fear

‘Lucien Vercetti?’ Anna’s phone dinged a while after. Kel had just received her text.

‘Did u just say u’re with Lucien Vercetti?’

‘The Lucien Vercetti?!’

‘Anna! Say something!’

Anna felt her phone ding in her pocket, but didn’t take it out because Lucien had his eyes fixed on her the whole time up the elevator. They got to the penthouse, and he held the door open for her.

“How do you know my name? I didn’t tell you. Start confessing...” she inquired, trailing her fingers across the edge of one of the tall tables holding up antique vessels.

“Anna,” he chuckled. “You didn’t have to mention your name. Your reputation precedes you.” He smiled, going over to his minibar and pouring himself a glass of fine whiskey.
