Chapter 12. Missing Him
Gennie sat still while the makeup artist took care of her face. She had a shoot to mentally prepare for, but there she sat, wondering who Anna was and why Lucien took her to one of his favorite places for breakfast.
***
Some days have just passed. Quietly. Uneventfully.
Anna came back from work each day, expecting... something. A note. A knock. A chill down her spine. But nothing came. No Lucien.
His absence gnawed at her unexpectedly, like a whisper that wouldn’t stop echoing in her ear. It was confusing. She was supposed to be relieved. She thought she would be if he stopped coming for her. But finally—no white roses, no teasing glances. No overwhelming presence that made her want to slap him and kiss him in the same breath. But all that quiet only made her feel lonelier. Colder. And, shamefully, she missed him.
