Gennie knew not to lie.
She knew he hated lies.
She opened her mouth to speak, but no words came.
None.
Only tears escaped the sides of her eyes.
Lucien frowned. She noticed and wiped the tears from the corner of her eyes with a sniff, then she finally spoke.
“I’m sorry,” she mumbled, a bit more ashamed than scared. He’d treated her so softly all the time he’d known her, like he treated everyone he loved, so she had forgotten what he was.
“Are you?” He raised a brow.
“Don’t do that, Lucien. I really am. I’m not a monster, I feel bad.”
“What do you feel bad about? You haven’t answered my question.” He reminded her, so she drew in a breath to calm herself down.
