[BLAKE'S POV]

That was something I was expecting for so long. The men under Asher's guidance were dragging her towards her. Her slender back faced us, and her usual black hair seemed a little blondie. Maybe the sunlight was too bright here.

I told myself before I took a marathon race on her way. I had no time to think about anything else. She was there... My wife Victoria was finally there...

I heard Veronica's clumsy steps behind my back as we both approached her at the same time. The guards signaled at us to stay further, and I groaned at their baseless warning. I scooted closer even though they were asking me to stay apart.

My dream, my expectations, everything shattered within a few moments when they laid the woman on the floor and showed me her face.

Both I and Veronica gasped out in astonishment.
