Chapter 21. A Long Drive

"Step away," As Beth stooped down to pick up the broken pieces, Din said. "I'll have one of the maids clean things up for me. Come along with me." He walked her over to the couch and sat her down softly.

Beth was still taken aback by what she had heard. Din had already married someone else. Of course, she'd told him to marry her and then divorce Jessie when he'd gotten the company. That had been the plan all along, but why was she now uneasy?

Her hands were sweaty and quivering, and her legs were trembling. Din clasped her hands in his and smiled. He patted them gently, forcing her to look at him. "I assure you, I have no feelings for her."

"I understand." As she stared at him, Beth attempted a smile.

"Then why are you so concerned?" He inquired.

"Din, I'm sure you'll end up falling for her. What if you fall in love with her after she moves in? What if you ignore me and go see her? What should I do then? How do I feel then? Please respond."
