Chapter 23. Lost Dreams and Rainy Nights

"How could Marco have done such a thing to me?" Jessie inquired as she left the store. "How could he fool me like that? He fooled me by convincing me that I was unique and buying a forgery that looks exactly like the real ring?" Jessie took the ring and was about to throw it away when Taylor intervened.

"He's a jerk, but don't throw away the ring." She gave advice.

"Why?" Jessie inquired. "It's a forgery. How am I going to use a fake? What am I supposed to use a fake ring to do?"

"Hand it over," Taylor said, and Jessie did just that. "I'll get you a dress for tonight's performance. We need to return home. It's almost six o'clock." When she realized how upset Jessie was, she sighed. Who wouldn't be, right? Jessie recently discovered that the man she thought loved her gave her a false ring. "Don't let this dampen your spirits today. You must put your best foot forward and win people's hearts. Okay?"

As they got into the car, Jessie gave a hesitant nod.
