Chapter 25. Romantically

"She really bought this for you?"

Lexie couldn't help but stare at the painting hanging in our living room. It was delivered that very same night, right after she drove me home after the event. I thought it was some kind of joke, but when my phone rang in the middle of the night because of some package delivery in the lobby, I knew that it was it: the painting that I've ever wanted.

"Do you even know how much that cost?" Lexie asked as she sat down beside me on the couch, sounding so ridiculous.

"Ten million dollars," I said with a little smirk on my face.

"So Cadence just gave away ten million dollars so you can enjoy looking at that painting in your apartment?" Lexie pointed out.

"Yes," I shyly answered afterwards.

"Yet you're still convincing yourself that she's not interested in you while you're also pretending that you don't like her," she said and laughed.
