Chapter 8. Under Pressure

Three days passed by like nothing happened, and I was back to my old routine: wake up, get to work, go home, take care of the things in my apartment, and sleep. Cadence is not bugging me anymore with her sudden visit to my office or any kind of appearance in front of our apartment building. Maybe she has given up on getting me aboard her thing, or maybe she finally has another woman to pester with.

It's a good thing, though.

"We have already accepted the five new employees out of the recent job posting that we posted two weeks ago, and they're doing great, actually."

Lexie is currently reading me all the reports and improvements, but then my mind was on another thought somehow. I can't seem to figure out why I'm feeling too distracted lately, but maybe part of that was what happened between me and that woman.

It's a good offer for me, so why did I even reject that kind of thing in the first place? Damn it!
