Chapter 9. Agreement
The night came, and while Lexie was already taking Dahlia to sleep, I sneaked out to meet Cadence at a restaurant nearby. I'll just text Lexie about what I'm going to do.
There are still three hours before Nana's surgery, and I guess that's enough to seal the deal with her. I'm not fond of doing this in the middle of this kind of situation, but I have no choice but to go on. While I'm texting Cadence that I'm already on my way, a message from my online friend also came in.
@not_your_typical_girl: It's been a long time; how are you?
@classyrosie: Not good, actually.
I put my phone in my pocket as soon as I got out of the hospital and ran to the nearest subway station. It'll just be a five-minute trip from the hospital to that restaurant, and that place is perfect for this negotiation. I just hope that she won't get lost.
A text came in, but it's not from her; it's from my online friend again.
