Chapter 21. Heartless

My brothers look at me like I’m heartless, maybe I am. I don’t want for them to say it out loud. Walking through I go to my office and lock the door. I use the room to hide away from everyone for hours. After midnight I walk to the kitchen getting a drink.

 “She hasn’t left her room.” 

 I look at Marcello. “So? She’s probably sleeping.” 

 “What’s the plan, Cal? We didn’t think this shit through, how will it even work?” Marcello grabs a glass and fills it sitting and looking at me waiting. 

 “What do you mean how will it work? She will work for us.” I thought they all understood that.

“Right, but everything else?”

 “What else Marc?” 

 “Come on Cal, he is on about her and her life. She works for us fine, but what else? What freedom is she given, can she leave and go shopping? Make friends and go out on a night, meet a guy and fuck him?”
