Chapter 29. Meeting of the Alphas
“What are you?”
Cataleia dwelled on his question many times in her head. “I’m human.” Was all she could muster. “What do you mean..?”
“The scent of a mate… it’s unusual.”
“Humans… can’t be mates.” She told him. “Right?”
Tristan Blackwater shrugged his shoulders. “ I don’t know. You just have the scent. Now I’m intrigued.”
“Intrigued… by me? A lowly human? I didn’t expect to pique the interest of an alpha.”
“So,” the Alpha had no signs of leaving her alone to rest. Instead, he crosses his legs and leans closer to Cataleia’s bed to talk with her. “…why did you start working with the Nyths? Were you blackmailed into joining them?”
“No.” She shook her head. “I was hired. That’s it.”
“I do not refute your strength.” He nods. “I do believe that you’re capable of fighting even if you’re a lady. But I don’t understand why you would be working for those weird bunch. Have you not heard the rumors about them?”
“Rumors?” she raised an eyebro
