Valerie Will POV

I knew that Patrick was under a lot of tension but it still didn’t justify the fact that he yelled at me just because I asked him a simple question.

I was upset but I knew that there was no use going back and forth with him. One of us had to be the bigger person. And also, stay calm and think about how we would drag ourselves out of the mess he had created.

As I went back upstairs, I stopped at the room my mother was staying in. I opened the door and stepped inside. She was holding Isla and walking around the room.

“I’ve been trying to get her to sleep for the past thirty minutes.” My mother handed her over to me as I got to where they stood.

Maybe she was aware of the storm that was brewing in our home and found it difficult to sleep. I knew that thought was silly though.
