I had no idea who texted me anonymously to rat out my former assistant, but I was grateful that the person did. However, I had to pay a huge sum of money to get the information.
That wasn’t important.
The only thing I wanted to do was drive over to my assistant’s house and confront her about the situation. I didn’t even contact her yet, I wanted to catch her off guard.
As I drove over there, I couldn’t believe that she would betray me after so many years. But at the same time, I couldn’t even blame her.
I was wrong to fire her abruptly.
But I didn’t think she would sell me out like that. She knew how serious those accusations were and how they would affect the company.
Still, she let her emotions get the best of her.
The worst part was that I had no idea she even knew about it. Even though I thought I trusted her to an extent, I still kept my dealings with Massimo a secret.
